Supervision Agreement & Contract
This contract is entered into between:
This agreement establishes a professional supervisory relationship to support you, your clinical practice, ongoing development, and ethical accountability. Supervision will provide a reflective space in which to explore your caseload management, your wellbeing, your professional growth, safeguarding and any personal factors that might be relevant. My aim as your supervisor is to provide a safe, collaborative, nurturing space within which to reflect and explore.
Supervision will be offered from an integrative perspective, drawing on the ethical frameworks of the BCAP. If we belong to a different membership body from each other then your chosen body's ethical framework will also be respected and referenced as relevant.
4. Practical Arrangements
Sessions will begin and end at the agreed time and I would encourage you to be prepared with any notes that you feel will be helpful and relevant to your supervision.
Fees will be reviewed annually or at the contract review date, with a minimum of one month’s notice given of any change.
Where a session needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, both parties agree to give a minimum of 48 notice wherever possible.
I will endeavour to offer an alternative appointment where cancellation is unavoidable on either side.
Supervision sessions are confidential. However, confidentiality is not absolute. The following exceptions apply:
I may discuss anonymised aspects of our supervisory relationship with my own supervisor for the purposes of professional reflection and quality assurance.
I will keep brief notes of our supervision sessions for the purposes of continuity and professional accountability. These notes are stored securely and will not be shared with third parties except in the limited circumstances outlined above.
You are encouraged to maintain your own supervision log or notes to support reflective practice and to satisfy any training or CPD requirements.
Both parties agree to comply with relevant data protection legislation, including UK GDPR, in the handling of any personal or client-related information.
Supervision does not transfer clinical or legal responsibility from the supervisee to the supervisor. You will remain professionally responsible for your own practice and ethical conduct at all times and I will offer reflective and constructive feedback, maintain appropriate boundaries and raise concerns as necessary.
Should I have any questions or concerns I may need to
You the supervisee agrees to:
A strong working relationship is central to effective supervision. Both parties commit to:
You are encouraged to use the space as self care and to bring your authentic experience of clinical work. Including uncertainty, challenge, and anything that might be hard to name. Supervision works best when it feels genuinely collaborative and reflective rather than performative and my role is to support, encourage and reflect whether it is about you, your practice case load or your practice development. I offer all of my supervisees the ability to contact me in between sessions in cases of client emergencies and risk management via email or messaging but cannot guarantee an immediate response.I will of course endeavour to respond as soon as it's possible to do so.
Either party may end this agreement by giving four weeks notice. Where possible, both parties agree to use remaining sessions to bring the relationship to a thoughtful, planned close.
In exceptional circumstances — for example, where there are serious concerns about ethical conduct or the safety of the working relationship — either party may end the contract with immediate effect.
This contract will be reviewed at 6 months and thereafter as agreed. Either party may request a review at any point if circumstances change significantly.
At review, both parties will reflect on the quality of the supervisory relationship, whether the practical arrangements remain workable, and any adjustments needed to meet the supervisees evolving professional needs.
By signing below, both parties confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this supervision contract.
